Vale de Gaios
Beautiful walk along the Rio Cavalo
An easy stroll with numerous colorful wooden bridges.
It's a 3 km walk in and 3 km back. The endpoint is the ancient granite Roman bridge over the Rio Cavalo. And although you return on the same path, the scenery is always changing.
Along the route, you'll traverse various colorful wooden bridges along the banks of the winding Rio Cavalos, a wild tributary of the Rio Mondego.
At one point, the river even disappears under the rocks only to resurface a few hundred meters further.
At the beginning, the river is dammed, allowing for delightful swimming in the summer.
